Learning Links

The children use a huge range of tools and websites in school to help with their learning. As we continue along the learning journey we hope to include some of these fantastic tools on this page for you to use at home with your children.
Most websites are free but some require e-mail accounts to sign up, I would suggest you doing this for your children so you can monitor their use, we have to keep safe!

Click a logo or website to be taken there.
If you need any help with using any of these websites then let Mrs Cahill know!

www.SafeSearchKids.com
The internet is a fantastic thing and in school the children are slowly being taught the benefits that using the internet has, and one main way they are doing this is through internet research. One thing the children all know is that we have to keep safe on the internet, closing popups and hiding our information.
A great search engine for children is Safe Search Kids, it is run using Google but with huge safety restrictions so it helps filter unwanted pages.
Years 1-6

www.Canva.com
Canva is a really useful online graphic design website that allows you to create all kinds of documents from posters to brochures using a simple 'Drag and Drop' interface that allows the children to be completely free with their designs. It does require a Logon to be made but the finished posters are great quality.

www.MakeBeliefsComix.com
It is important to encourage your children to write freely at home about anything they
fancy, a great way to do this is by making a comic. Make Beliefs Comix is an amazing online tool that gives you a huge variety of characters and scenes for you to create your own printable comic book. This site is very child friendly.

Years 2-6

www.GoogleLitTrips.com
Google maps have been with us for some years now, and Google Earth has taken over it's role. Google Lit Trips is a website that has collected an incredible amount of stories  and books and has then plotted the journey taken in these stories on the real life map in Google Maps. As an example, you can read the diary of Anne Frank in the exact location it was written and then watch videos of what it would have been like there. Or read around the world in 80 days and take the same route as they do in the story!
A great website for children of all ages to explore!
You must have Google Earth installed for the links to work.

www.3DHistoricalTour.com

Well now you can! 3D Historical Tour is a free website that let's you walk around a virtual historical world. Great way to encourage children with story telling or diary writing.

www.KoduGameLab.com
This year the children in KS2 will be starting to use Kodu in their computing lessons. Kodu is a piece of software made by Microsoft that allows children to build and program their own games while they think they are just playing! The children can create 3d worlds and create levels for their characters to explore.
Kodu will only work on a Microsoft Windows system and does need to be downloaded and installed.
